It's all Crap.

What fuckwit decided it would be a good idea to create a competition where engineering students build a race car and then have other people promote it as being 'fun' and 'not too time consuming'?

Whoever it was, I slap them.

Steering designs: FINITO!

Bwahaha! The steering designs are done. Suddenly I have a bit of free time @ home. Now I can actually get ahead on some work.

Aaaaahhhhh...... And now the cut and thrust of the job is just to build the bugger. There's a bigass lump of 6160 grade aluminium in the workshop (about 100 bucks worth - Ali is #$%@in' expensive atm) with my name on it, that will be going along to some poor sap at Bluuescope to build, and the rest will be in house.

Which reminds me, if anyone who reads this can find a supplier that sells Apex universal joints and can sell me Military Specification MS20271-B12 Universal joints for less than $400 a piece (they should be about $250 at most you cheap ass ripoff artist son of a bitch!!! - refers to the Australian supplier I found), could you let me know?

BTW, if there's anyone other than the named contributors of this blog (i.e. Brianna, Az, Ads, me) who actually read it (or are reading it now!) then please leave a comment on this post - I just want to see if there's anyone other than us that reads this.

Cheers :)

bleearrrgghhh

SO not doing FSAE again next year.

All I really wanted to do was some manufacturing. Turns out that's all anyone wants to do and no actual designing. Wait, scratch that - everyone wants to drive, many people want to do the manufacturing, very few want to do the design work. How the hell did I get lumped with this job anyway? I'm only in second friggin' year! BASTARDS!

Anyway... I'm supposed to try to have some models done tomorrow, but noone has replied to the various emails I've sent out requesting assistance. So bugger them, right in the ear. I sent out the help requests on Thursday night at about 12:30. If they can't reply in that time BECAUSE THEY WERE HAVING A FRIGGIN' DRIVE TEST DAY ON LAST YEAR'S CAR WHILE I HAD A 7 HOUR DAY AT UNI AND WENT STRAIGHT TO WORK ON THEIR CRAP WHEN I GOT HOME then BUGGER THEM!!!!

But I bet I'll still cop shit at next weeks meeting.

...

...

This had better look fucking good in my CV.

Meanwhile, just got back from Anna's party (which I don't feel so bad about going to now, because I still had nothing to work with on FSAE...). Went pretty well. I dressed up like a tool, but I looked the part, so all was well.

Maybe I should go do some reading and then go to bed. Looks like another hectic mother F#$% semester at uni.

G'night.

It's Snow Time, Ladies and Gentlemen!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!

Already I can feel the free and easy sensation that one can only achieve by climbing to high altitudes and freezing, sub-zero temperatures, awaiting the condensation and precipitation of a googooplex of microscopic ice crystals, then taking two long, straight, specially cut pieces of wood and carbon fibre, strapping them to your feet and pointing yourself straight downhill.

In short: Skiing.

It's on. From this Thursday, it's ON!!! YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Mmmm mmm mmmmmm.... There are some reports that it may snow, but it has before, and it's never been too bad. Overall, I think we may be up for some good skiing! YAY! PUMPED!!!

And as if that wasn't enough, I will now be invincible. Why you ask?

Because of my NEW PANTS!!!

Yeah, these are some good skiing pants right here. Nice n' comfy.

But, on a sad note, we've lost one of our fold due to illness before we even got there. This was supposed to be Justine's 18th birthday present from Azza, and wouldn't you know it - she's wound up with Glandular Fever. Now that's a right royal buggering and no mistake. Sorry Justine.

But still...

SKIING!

And now for Episode 5: Enter the Sketchy One

Hello!

First post here... Hmmm...

Enjoying Holiday time, but I imagine I would be enjoying it more if I didn't have to design a steering system. The main reason I actually joined FSAE was to learn about manufacturing, metalworking, etc. Not really to design stuff... I mean it's the job I've been given, so I'll happily do it and all, but every time I look at another component of the bloody steering system I find out that there's about a million friggin' factors involved in designing the components. For instance, in order to connect the rack to the wheels, you have to have a very specific angle at which the tie rods (metal rods that push and pull the wheels in and out) engage with the uprights (the things that hold the wheels together). Or the teeth on the rack and pinion gear need to have a very specific profile and separation, etc., or they'll be completely ratshit to steer with. It's a bit of a bitch, cause I've gotta break it down like this for every component behind the steering wheel down to the wheels.

However, I am getting a substantial portion of gaming in in the meantime. Ahhhh...

Currently playing list:
-FF: Crystal chronicles
-FF VII
-Kingdom Hearts
-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
-Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner
and a bunch of other stuff, but those are the main ones for the moment.

Anyhoo, I've gotta go and find out prices and sizes, etc. of stuff I can use for steering. Running Around! Wheeeeeeeee!

Well, that's all my cheer used up for the day.... Urrgggghhh...
